For Democrats, a lot is being made out of the upcoming 2018 congressional elections, a chance for the party to take back a bunch of seats currently held by Republicans. One seat, however, that is up for grabs, could play a major role in bringing more liberal changes to Washington. That seat is Wisconsin’s First District, currently held by Speaker of the House Paul Ryan.

The challenger in 2018? Randy Bryce. If his Twitter handle counts for anything, Ryan might just have his hands full. Bryce can be found on Twitter via the @IronStache handle, a nickname which suits him quite well. Bryce, someone who has gone through a lot in his life, is known by his friends as a hardworking ironworker with a heck of a mustache.

More importantly though, Bryce has endured hardships with his family’s health care, in a way that Paul Ryan could not even imagine. As you see in the heartfelt campaign ad below, Bryce’s mother suffers from multiple sclerosis, an ailment that requires a plethora of expensive medications.

“My mother has multiple sclerosis, my father is in assisted living, and I survived cancer in my 20s to have a miracle child in my 40s,” explained Bryce. “What Paul Ryan and the Republicans are doing to take health care away from millions of us, to make it cost more and cover less, and to allow the protections we’ve gained to be stripped away – it’s just unacceptable.”

Bryce is not a career politician, but rather a lifelong hard worker who has also served the United States in the military. He may not be well known, but he is a perfect example of someone who could drain the swamp simply by getting elected and forcing Paul Ryan out.  If you want someone representing Wisconsin who does not have political motives, then Bryce appears to be the man.

If Ryan were to lose, the House would have to select a new Speaker, which could definitely create quite a bit of turmoil for the Trump Administration.

It will be an uphill battle for the “Iron Stache” but undoubtedly Paul Ryan has been losing the favor of his constituents as of late. We know one thing for sure; Randy Bryce cares about our health care, and he will do everything he can to make sure we don’t lose it.
