As most of you probably know by now, President Trump has suddenly turned on his Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Last week he showed his disdain for the fact that Jeff Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation, a move that Trump believed was the wrong one. Trump told the New York Times that he wouldn’t have appointed Sessions as his Attorney General if he knew that Sessions would have taken these actions.
“Well, Sessions should have never recused himself, and if he was going to recuse himself, he should have told me before he took the job, and I would have picked somebody else,” Trump explained.
This morning though, Trump took his insults of Sessions one step further, with a tweet which was aimed at discrediting his Attorney General even further.
“So why aren’t the Committees and investigators, and of course our beleaguered A.G., looking into Crooked Hillarys crimes & Russia relations?” Trump questioned on Twitter.
According to Fortune Magazine, Trump has the ability to ask Jeff Sessions to investigate Hillary Clinton, but there is absolutely no sign that he has actually done so. Trump calling his Attorney General “beleaguered” certainly is a huge insult to someone, who up until last week, appeared to have the President’s full support.
Many are beginning to believe that Trump is trying to pressure Sessions to resign, so that he can appoint a replacement who wouldn’t need to be recused from the Russia investigation. This would provide the President with better control over those behind it. Sessions has already stated that he will not be resigning, so the insults may just keep coming.
