Twitter Inc (TWTR) Hires Director of Diversity Away From Apple (APPL)

Today Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) announced that they have hired a new vice president of diversity and inclusion to replace the departing Janet Van Huysse. To fill the important position, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey turned to none other than Apple in his hiring of Jeffery Siminoff. Siminoff had been in the role of director of worldwide inclusion and diversity at the Cupertino-based tech giant, and had worked there for 28 months according to his LinkedIn profile. Prior to Apple, Siminoff spent 14 years in various positions with Morgan Stanley.

Van Huysse will be leaving after a six-year stink with the social media company in which she headed up the company’s Human Relations department. The stock is up 0.16% or $0.03 following the news, hitting $22.56 per share. About 3.00 million shares traded hands. TWTR has declined 38.29% since May 26, 2015 and is downtrending. It has underperformed the S&P500 by 36.02%.

From a total of 29 analysts covering Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) stock, 13 rate it a “Buy”, 2 a “Sell”, and 14 a “Hold”. This means that 45% of the ratings are positive. Barclays Capital has a “Equal-Weight” rating and a $33 price target on shares. Finally, RBC Capital Markets maintained the stock with a “Sector Perform” rating in a report they issued on an October 28.
