A recent class action lawsuit filed against Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) seeks a sum of $5 million in compensation based on Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) knowingly slowing down older iPhone 4s devices with its iOS9 update.
The lawsuit claims that the iOS9 update interferes heavily with the performace of the iPhone 4s, and due to the fact that users are not able to go back to an older version of iOS once the update is installed, they have to either get a new smartphone or use a device which does not operate to most user’s standards. The class in this suit consists of over 100 members, who are seeking nearly $50,000 a piece via this class action against Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) in addition to an option to treble. While this suit certainly won’t break the company, which raked in over 2,000 times the approximate $5 million that the suit is seeking over in the last quarter alone, a victory for the plantiffs would be a moral defeat for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).
