Sony Corp (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) has a lot to be proud of this Friday morning, after they reported their earnings and showed profit of close to $2 billion early this morning. Much of this can be attributed to their PlayStation 4 sales, which apparently are outselling the Microsft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One by quite a large margin.

Elecontronic Art’s CFO, Blake Jorgensen suggests that Sony Corp (ADR) (NYSE:SNE)’s Playstation 4 has outsold the Xbox One close to 2:1. Sony has been forthcoming with their sales numbers, as they reported that as of early this month they have sold 35.9 million units globally. Microsoft, however, has not been as forthcoming, keeping sales numbers for the Xbox One rather private. Perhaps it’s because they don’t want the public seeing how much more popular their competition has been. If Jorgensen’s assumptions are right — based on sales of their games, we assume — sales of the Xbox One would stand at roughly 18 million units.

Is Sony finally winning a console war that has previously been considered to be quite close? If so, we could see the company’s next console sell like hotcakes as well. The stock is up 14.93% or $3.03 following the news, hitting $23.32 per share. About 35,123 shares traded hands. SNE has declined 33.50% since June 24, 2015 and is downtrending. It has underperformed the S&P500 by 23.29%.
