It has been reported that 16 ISIS fighters have contracted HIV from two of their sex slaves. This was recently discovered at a hospital that apparently has treated some of the fighters.
According to sources, “The men, most of whom are foreign fighters, were treated at an ISIS-run hospital in the east-Syrian city of Al-Mayadeen and then quarantined.”
Medical professionals told a Syrian news agency that the finding panicked the leaders of ISIS. According to an activist in Al-Mayadeen, ISIS leaders are “planning to assign suicide attacks for militants who tested positive with HIV.”
A Syrian doctor in al-Mayadeen told ARA News, on the condition of anonymity, that “Most of those infected are foreign militants who had sexual intercourses with two Moroccan women. The women passed on the disease to the militants before their infection was revealed. We were ordered by the group’s local leadership to transfer the infected militants to a quarantine center in the city.”
The Moroccan women who spread the virus fled to Turkey for fear of being executed. Just this past June, ISIS executed a fighter for knowingly spreading HIV, and earlier this year, ISIS beheaded a fighter for knowingly allowing his HIV-infected blood to be transfused to another ISIS member.
ISIS leadership has apparently issued a decision through its Sharia Commission to run tests for AIDS on all its members in Deir ez-Zor in order to avoid further spread of the disease.
This news comes three months after similar cases were reported among ISIS militants in the city of Shaddadi in Hasakah province. There, an Indonesian fighter passed on HIV to his Yezidi sex slave. The same slave was later sold to other members of the radical group, causing panic in the ranks of ISIS in Shaddadi.
It has been widely reported that a large number of the ISIS fighters are drug addicts, have criminal backgrounds, and frequently swap wives and sex slaves (for them, is there really a difference between the two?). So this recent news shouldn’t be all too surprising.
However, the chances of contracting HIV from heterosexual sex are extremely low. This begs the question, what is really going on with ISIS?
