As if the news yesterday that Trump had agreed on a plan presented to him by Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Shumer regarding the nation’s debt limit wasn’t infuriating enough for Republicans, more news this morning will likely send many within the GOP over the edge.
While yesterday’s deal that Trump reached was certainly a bad sign for the GOP, who had opposed the 90-day debt ceiling extension that Democrats had opposed, it now appears that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has Trump’s ear on the whole DACA fiasco as well.
According to NBC News Capitol Hill Producer, Alex Moe, President Trump placed a phone call to Pelosi this morning, in which Pelosi actually dictated to the President a tweet which she thought would ease the concern of DREAMers after Trump said he’d let DACA expire earlier in the week.
“Sen Dem aide confirms to NBC News Pelosi told colleagues she called Trump today + asked him to tweet this on DACA to reassure DREAMers. This Trump/Pelosi phone call & request to tweet on DACA comes one day after Trump sided w/ Dems in WH mtg on debt limit increase length. And adding, per senior democratic aide — President Trump placed the call to Leader Pelosi this morning,” Moe tweeted minutes ago.
The Trump tweet in question, that a senior Democratic aide claims that Pelosi dictated to the President, was posted at approximately 10 AM and reads as follows:
“For all of those (DACA) that are concerned about your status during the 6 month period, you have nothing to worry about – No action!”
Such a tweet, combined with the likelihood that it was dictated by a leading Democrat, likely means that Trump plans on working with those across the isle to perhaps reinstate a congressionally approved DACA bill later in the year or early next years. At least that’s what the DREAMers are hoping for.
