Netflix, Inc. (NFLX) Stock Jumps Over 5% After Company Announces Launch in 130 New Countries


As of now, Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) is now available in 130 new countries, including South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Turkey, India, Vietnam, Russia, Poland, and many more. In an announcement at CES, the company went global in a huge way.

Wall Street is acting accordingly with shares of Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) jumping over 5% after the announcement was made official. While the streaming video services is coming to 130 new countries, most of the programming will remain in English for the time being in the majority of these nations. However, Arabic, Korean, and Chinese will be added to the already available 17 languages.

This is huge news not just for movie and TV aficionados globally but also for investors who were getting a bit concerned about potential expansion and ways the company could increase revenues. The stock is up 5.81% or $6.25 following the news, hitting $113.92 per share. About 16.37 million shares traded hands or up 11.13% from the average. NFLX has risen 20.79% since June 2, 2015 and is currently uptrending. It has outperformed the S&P500 by 25.48%.
