If you have been following the news over the last 72 hours, then you are likely aware of the chaos that’s emanating throughout the White House and spewing out all over America and its closest allies.

While the 117 days since Trump’s inauguration seem to have all been chaotic, this week, by far, is the most tumultuous. Starting with the revelation that the President likely divulged highly classified information provided by Israel to a hostile foreign power, Russia, the news has only gotten worse from their. Yesterday the New York Times reported that former FBI Director James Comey had written several memos from his multiple conversations with the President. One memo allegedly explained how the President asked Comey to ‘let the Flynn investigation go,’ only a day after Flynn had resigned.  Democrats, and now many Republicans, view such a memo, if it does exist, as possible obstruction of justice, an impeachable offense. Additional Comey memos also shed light on the fact that the President had asked the former director of the FBI to consider imprisoning reporters who report on classified information via leaks.  This of course would be a direct violation of the First Amendment to the Constitution.

As you can imagine, those within the White House are doing the best they can to spin this news and try and put out the fire before it burns the whole administration down. The problem is, that just as one fire begins to die down, another one erupts, stronger than the last.  Morale has gotten so bad within the White House that one senior official in the Trump administration offered quite a telling description of how he sees things right now: “I don’t see how Trump isn’t completely f*cked.”

The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to The Daily Beast, also went on to describe the feeling in the White House as follows:

“Every time I feel like we’re getting a handle on the last Russia fiasco, a new one pops. We can’t even wrap up one Russia fiasco before we’re on to the next one.”

Other reports have indicated that yelling and cursing could be heard coming from the President and White House staff all the way in the Press Room following the Comey memos story.

That’s a highly simplistic theory. Unfortunately, a number of people, who are educated, held their nose and voted for someone who would pick a conservative Supreme Court Judge. Others have a business and believed he’d help them by lowering taxes (as did some of the ultra-rich). I think the main problem are the low information voters who had Fox News as their main source of information and believed the decades-long propaganda lies about the Clintons and still do. Face it, the GOP is very good (or bad depending upon how you look at it) at spreading propaganda on any Democratic opponent. The fact that President Obama didn’t have as much of a national identity when he ran was a big plus. One of his earliest supporters (I think it was Dick Gephardt) suggested that he run in 2008 and not wait for 2012 or 2016 (if a Dem won in 2008) because that just ensures more ammo built up against him by the GOP (whether true or not wouldn’t matter). This election in 2016 shows more than ever that the GOP is ruthless and diabolical when it comes to winning and are ok with suppressing law abiding voters to that end. Wisconsin had 200,000 fewer votes this past election due to new laws (Trump only won by 22,000). We can just get pissed and call all of Trump’s voters deplorable. We have to look at ALL of the factors involved and once we get back the house, senate and presidency make sure we change the archaic electoral college method of electing our president. The vote should be the vote.
