Authoritarian regimes are known for controlling the media and those individuals whom they govern. Critics are not permitted to speak out, and the opposition is not allowed to display views that are inconsistent with those held by the regime.

After what happened to me last night, I believe that the American government is slipping more and more away from democracy and more toward disastrous authoritarian leadership under President Donald Trump.

Last night, just moments after Donald Trump made this tweet, I responded to him with a comment that I felt was appropriate. That tweet (if you didn’t click the link above) was one in which he wrote, “I will be announcing my decision on Paris Accord, Thursday at 3:00 P.M. The White House Rose Garden. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”, and my response was as follows:

I merely provided my opinion that the Paris Agreement was of utmost importance, both for American jobs and for the survival of future generations.  I may be just 35 years old, but I care about my offspring.  I don’t want my generation to be the one that determines a horrible outcome for the livelihood of my children and grandchildren, and I honestly don’t believe that Donald Trump or anyone who thinks we should simply stop protecting our planet, really cares about the future they are leaving for their own offspring.

While this angers me to no end, what angers me even more is the fact that the President of the “free” world decided to block me from viewing and replying to his Twitter account for eternity.  I no longer can see messages that he posts, and I no longer have the same say in responding to his tweets as the rest of the American people do.  Sure I can create a new account to get around this, but that’s not the point.  President Donald Trump is virtually censoring free speech in order to become more of a an authoritarian.

I also learned that I’m not the only person who had his/her account blocked by Trump.  Apparently he has done it to others as well, and the number of blocked accounts continue to increase as days go by and more critics take aim at his administration via Twitter.  This is the start of an authoritarian government, and Americans everywhere should take note.

I got put into a 12 hour twitter time-out for being “potentially abusive” to him. I don’t care. I just went right back to doing what I do. Apparently, he’s only after big accounts that are “important” or have lots of followers. So wear it as a badge of honor and get yourself a new account. Tell your followers what it is so they can follow that one, too. Good luck.

I called him a “fuckwit” and didn’t get a yellow card. I feel like I’ve missed out somehow. 😞

  • Brenda Carter

    He blocked me too!

  • Semper Fi

I would block you too.. your complaining just to complain about something you think you understand.. Are you too lazy to write him a letter? We live in a republic which uses a representative democracy. a republic protects each individual and allows them to maintain their “god” given rights.A democracy is a majority rules all which do not have any protections on the individual or minority’s personal rights. So before you go criticizing your government maybe you should learn a little bit more about it. I would like to know how many countries with authoritarian dictators you’ve lived in to compare Trump to? I’m also interested to learn how many other so-called dictators are or have been Pro Second Amendment? I mean really you’re 35 and you’re complaining that a grown man doesn’t want to listen to another grown man tell him what he cares about? I wish people would stop saying “Free” like such a thing exists. I mean less than a week ago was Memorial Day, but to you it was probably just a long weekend from work. So you know a lot of people have paid with their lives so you would be free to complain about being blocked on a Twitter account from a president that’s free to block unblock delete whatever he wants to do with his. just as you are free to send all the money you want two the Paris agreement or environmental agencies of your choice, because we are a “Free” country we don’t need the government to tell u to do that. but because he does care about your kids and grandchildren he’s giving them the option to do that instead of making it a requirement. no one cares what the rest of the countries in the world are saying about it… because no one’s ever changed the world by listening to what doing what the world told them. yes there’s climate change and there always will be we can’t predict it just like not a single one of Al Gore’s predictions were correct. Instead of trying to prevent climate change which in my mind is the danger because the Earth is constantly changing and always has been. Jurassic era is far different than today’s which also contained five times the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and it was one of Earth’s most thriving time.. you know you can learn far more studying the past then you ever will trying to predict the future. so please stop bitching because that’s all it is unless it’s followed by a solution. If you cared about your kids as much as you try to placate in your whatever you call this blog then get off the computer and go spend time with them and stop acting like you care about some issues that CNN or somebody told you to. You can’t play Captain America without sacrificing anything and the only thing I see you sacrificing by choice is time with your kids to post garbage like this.

    • Tronald Dump

That’s a lot of words to say absolutely nothing, you idiot.

      • Semper Fi

completely understandable from somebody that probably can’t read it is a bunch of words you are correct

      • Semper Fi

little piece of advice which is probably pointless considering it I don’t think you know how to read maybe you have a friend or something but it’s better to sit there and look like an idiot then to open your mouth and remove all doubt

        • Jeannine Brenna

It would be helpful if you used punctuation.

45 doesn’t read letters. He can barely make it through 140 characters. Twitter is just about the only option for him to hear from citizens. This is a free country, where we are allowed to criticize our government. You fought for this right for us. Neither you nor 45 get to decide from whom he hears. Dictators don’t allow free speech. By blocking people, he is denying their right to be heard. You may be willing to be governed by traitors to our country; most of us are not, which is our right.

Please learn the difference between “then” & “than”.

          • Semper Fi

I know the difference its Voice to Text translation it doesn’t… he’s not blocking people from doing anything you can write him a letter you could send him an email.. There are actually other lines of communication to the president if you feel like your voice is not heard. Considering he’s the first president to use Twitter and have a direct line to communicate directly to the public this whole argument is ridiculous. Dictators create more rules regulations through government not remove them.

Don’t worry about this lemming Jeannine, he’s one of those mindless persons who if Trump says the earth is flat and that his combover is holding it up, he’s gonna believe it as fact, or say that the moon isn’t real because you haven’t been there to prove it. But I really do enjoy your ribbing of him, but take it easy, I don’t wanna be the guy sitting next to him at the V.A. waiting room when he reads your next message and his head explodes.

          • Jim Bob

You’re yet another juvenile liberal whose name calling others “mindless lemmings” may actually be self descriptive.

          • Jim Bob

I doubt Trump reads tweet replies, due to the volume, but perhaps interns do, and provide a digest, or tweet of the day. The right to speech doesn’t include a right to be heard. I block most of the tv news shows, aka change the channel, immediately after my internal liberal bias detection bell rings, which is often within four minutes of tuning in.

  • Semper Fi

and one more thing… how can you say that this president doesn’t give a shit about the environment, when does he donate his entire salary from being president to the national parks??. yeah that’s right he’s donating his personal money but I guess Obama donating my money and your money is more patriotic right?

    • Tronald Dump

That pittance will be really effective in the face of the financial gutting of the parks funding, you idiot.

      • Semper Fi

when you have a fact show or something intelligent to say then reply otherwise name-calling just really shows you’re probably a liberal and you probably watch CNN or MSNBC.. and can you please show on what basis I would be an idiot accept the fact that because you probably paid a bunch of money to go to a school and have them give you a certificate that says diploma that certifies that they have taught you to think the way they want you to.. as opposed to teaching you how to think.. that somehow makes you smarter than everyone

        • Jeannine Brenna

Apparently smarter than you. Did you even graduate from high school?

          • Semper Fi

it would be smarter not smart you’re an idiot you’re horrible you didn’t even graduate grade school you’re racist….lol

          • Jeannine Brenna

You must be a racist because you’ve accused me. On what basis or are you grasping at straws?

      • Semper Fi

little piece of advice you know it’s better to just sit there and look like an idiot then open your mouth and remove all doubt…

        • Jeannine Brenna

THAN, not then. You have removed all doubt.

          • Semper Fi

criticize over a typo with voice to text… but the message was still understood right… you’re proving my point on why I would block you people from my Twitter page… no substance no importance just trolling looking for an error somewhere…

          • Jeannine Brenna

Perhaps better diction, precise pronunciation would help you. Btw, Obama was the first President to use Twitter.

    • Jeannine Brenna

Donating his salary is a sop to environmentalists.

      • Semper Fi

sop to environmentalist, you want to explain how that’s standard operating procedure

        • Jeannine Brenna

“Sop”, not SOP. You have a computer, check the dictionary.

  • ennwhycee

I wonder if he’s blocking the POTUS acct as well.
