Special counsel Robert Mueller was a fair appointee to look into possible Trump campaign ties to Russia, right? That’s at least how it seemed when Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Mueller as the special counsel for the US DOJ on May 17. Most felt as though the decision was a non-partisan one, one which was supported by Republicans and Democrats alike.

However, when Trump is involved, crazy is sure to ensue, and since his inauguration the majority of the Republican party has seemingly joined in on the craziness. Apparently many within the party now want Mueller ousted as the special counsel for the investigation, mostly because rumors are swirling that Trump wants Mueller fired — or at least that it would be in his best interest to do so.

Some may call it crazy, while others may call it hypocrisy, but what we are seeing within the Republican party certainly can’t be deemed normal. A shining example of this is the way that former Speaker of the House and Trump supporter Newt Gingrich is acting.

Back on May 17, when Mueller was appointed Special Counsel, Gingrich tweeted:

“Robert Mueller is superb choice to be special counsel. His reputation is impeccable for honesty and integrity. Media should now calm down.”

This tweet was reported by NBC’s Katy Tur, but has apparently been deleted by Gingrich since then. This is significant because just yesterday Gingrich completely changed his opinion and tweeted:

“Republicans are delusional if they think the special counsel is going to be fair. Look who he is hiring. Check fec reports. Time to rethink”

Yes, you did just read two separate tweets from the same man (Gingrich), saying exactly the opposite of one another within less than a month of each other.

It’s one thing to support Trump, but another to be hypocritical of everything that may implicate him of a crime. It’s time for the Republican party to stand up and say, “enough is enough!”. ¬†We need the truth… America needs the truth.

I urge the writer to look up the meaning of the word “literally” because CLEARLY you don’t know it.

    • Velska

Actually, he used the word “literally” correctly. The word “going” in the heading was superfluous, though. They’re not “going” crazy, they are crazy. Literally! And I’m not using that word in its nowadays-popular metaphorical sense, which is the one you were referring to I suppose.

I might be wrong but hey, that’s life.

Sorry but while I think the whole government is crazy, unless they’re being shipped off to mental institutions, they aren’t “literally going crazy”.

        • Milltycoon

There are probably 20 million clinically insane people in the US right now that are not being shipped off to mental institutions. That’s not a good metric to deduce the sanity of politicians.

I think the Republican Party is not crazy, I think their behavior is completely logical as it pertains to their goal (making themselves and their friends rich at the expense of the rest of the country). To a slightly lesser extent, that’s the same goal as the current Democratic Establishment also. We’ve set up a system by which the elites can bribe themselves eternal power, and then we vote for whichever of the 2 completely corrupt candidates we identify with personally, constantly believing (with no evidence or logic) that they’re going to bring change to a system that got them the power that they currently enjoy. Why would they?

In other words, WE’RE the crazy ones.

Well Newt Gingrich is a slimy lizard. So no surprise there. Did he originally think Mueller was going to go easy on Trump because he’s a GOP appointee? And sure, 4 out of 10 hires Mueller has made have donated to Democrats but that’s hardly a hyper partisan crew. Newt would’ve been happy to have crazed Republicunts, right?

  • Philip Turnbull

the problem is all of Trump appointees were heavy donors to his campaign and that was the only qualification for a position. they did not need to be qualified only monetary qualified. I doubt if Mueller even cared who donated to you just picked the best real qualified people, something the Trump administration would not understand

  • Someone should ask the newt “when” and, specifically, “why” he did such a quick turnaround when for the past many years he assured all of the absolute and undoubted INTEGRITY of Mr. Mueller. Could it be that some “StakeHolders” are insisting that he re-pay old debts and that he had best do so NOW by mocking his own previous assertions of Mr. Mueller? AmessageToAmerica.com
