This is a breaking story, so the exact details are hard to come by.  We have been made aware that there have been multiple shootings and anywhere between 14-50 gunshots heard at a Congressional baseball practice field in Alexandria, VA.  Thus far it has been confirmed that the Majority Whip, Steve Scalise (R-LA) has been shot and is being taken to the hospital.  Others have also been shot according to our sources, but no names have yet been released.

Besides Scalise, we have heard reports that two police officers have also been shot.  Rep. Scalise was hit in the hip and his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.  The suspect has been neutralized.

Scalise and other members of Congress were practicing this morning for a charity baseball game, when the suspect began firing shots from a rifle. Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks witnessed the shooting. According to him  50+ shots were fired in total.  He used his belt to help those who were injured.  According to Brooks the shooter ran around the bases firing his weapon.  After Scalise was shot he crawled into the outfield leaving a trail of blood. Meanwhile security at the White House has been tightened according to officials.

“Everybody probably would have died except for the fact that the Capitol Police were there, said Senator Rand Paul.”

We will update this story as new details become available.
