Trump Really Just Blamed Obama For Russian Election Interference

Share

Over the past 5 months, virtually everyone within the intelligence community, the House and the Senate have admitted that Russia interfered in the 2016 Presidential election and that they will continue to interfere unless something is done about it. Meanwhile, all this time, neither President Trump nor anyone speaking for him, including Sean Spicer, Kellyanne Conway or Sarah Sanders, have admitted that Russia was the one who actually did interfere. In fact, Trump has gone so far as to try and remove the sanctions that President Obama put in place against Russia in late December for such interference, and just this week he has allegedly tried to negotiate with House Republicans in order to water down a new harsher sanction bill against Russia. That’s what makes the President’s latest tweet this morning so incredibly shocking.

“By the way, if Russia was working so hard on the 2016 Election, it all took place during the Obama Admin. Why didn’t they stop them?” Trump tweeted just moments ago.

So a President who has denied, or at least shed doubt on the fact that Russia was in fact the ones who interfered in order to get him elected, now has seemingly shifted courses, and instead of denying such claims, now is trying to put blame for such actions on the Obama Administration. Pretty ironic considering that President Obama had been working feverishly to try and hold Russia responsible for these attacks on our democracy, while the current President has done nothing and has repeatedly shed doubt on the fact that Russia was even responsible.

The hypocrisy in this one tweet may have outdone every other tweet the President has made on this subject combined, and is sure to have political pundits on both the right and the left quite busy over the next day or so.
