Trey Goudy Just Went Off On Trump In Unexpected Fashion

Likely if you hear the name Trey Gowdy and you are a Democrat, you get quite angry. After all, the Republican Chairman of the House Oversight Committee spent millions of taxpayer dollars and had numerous hearings trying to nail Hillary Clinton for her role during the Benghazi attacks. On the other hand, if you are a Republican then you may be hoping for an eighth Benghazi probe.

Last night on Fox News, following revelations that Donald Trump Jr. attempted to collude with a hostile foreign nation, in order to help his father win the 2016 election, appeared none other than Trey Gowdy. While one would expect the combination of Gowdy and Fox News to equate to a complete admonishment of Trump Jr.’s behavior, Gowdy surprised us all.

Instead of trying to rationalize Trump Jr.’s behavior, Gowdy lashed out at the administration and showed deep concern, saying:

“If you had a contact with Russia, tell the special counsel about it! Don’t wait until the New York Times figures it out. Someone needs to get everyone in a room and say, from the time you saw ‘Dr. Zhivago’ until the moment you drank vodka with a guy named Boris, you list every single contact with Russia.”

Gowdy went on to praise special counsel Robert Mueller and criticized the ‘amnesia’ that the entire administration appears to have in regards to their meetings with Russia.

“Republicans have been saying there is no evidence of collusion between Trump, the Trump campaign or even hangers-on, and here we have this meeting, that may amount to nothing, but here we are on a Tuesday on a week we ought to be discussing infrastructure or tax reform and we’re still talking about Russia, and frankly for good reason,” Gowdy fumed.

Fox News quickly turned the subject towards James Comey and the possibility that the memos he leaked included classified information. Gowdy almost seemed to blow the allegations off. The full interview can be seen below:
