While the media is in a frenzy over several meetings that President Trump and Vladimir Putin held at the G-20 summit earlier this month, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has made things even a bit more interesting.
In an interview with NBC News, Lavrov opened the door to the possibility that Trump and Putin may have had further discussions at G20 Summit which the public may not be aware of.
“They might have met even much more than just three times,” Lavrov stated. “After the dinner was over…I was not there…President Trump apparently went to pick up his wife and spent some minutes with President Putin…so what?”
Lavrov ridiculously tried to compare the meeting of these world leaders to kindergarteners meeting in the lobby of a school before entering a classroom.
“When you are bought by your parents to a kindergarten, do you mix with the people who are waiting in the same room to start going to a classroom?” Lavrov questioned NBC News’ Keir Simmons. “I remember when I was in that position I did spend five or ten minutes in the kindergarten before they brought us to the classroom.”
What Lavrov wanted to emphasize seems to be the point that Trump and Putin were in the same building so all conversations that took place should be deemed “fair play”. However, in all instances where we saw or heard Trump speaking to Putin, it seemed as though it was very friendly in nature. What aggravates many Americans is the fact that Russia has been accused of interfering with U.S. Democracy, yet our 45th President treats Putin as though he is a good friend.
