Well that was quick. Anthony Scaramucci was just hired 10 days ago to be President Trump’s new communications director, in a move that saw Sean Spicer lose his job within the West Wing. Most within Trump’s inner circle felt as though Scaramucci would be working as the President’s communication director for the foreseeable future. Well, it turns out that it didn’t take long for Scaramucci to make a bad impression on Trump and his new Chief of Staff, John Kelly.
According to the New York Times, President Trump has removed Scaramucci from his position, after he verbally attacked several senior members of the White House last week.
Those verbal attacks came as part of Scaramucci’s interview with The New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza, in which he stated the following:
“I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own c*ck.”
“Reince is a fu**ing paranoid schizophrenic, a paranoiac. ‘Oh, Bill Shine is coming in. Let me leak the fucking thing and see if I can cock-block these people the way I cock-blocked Scaramucci for six months.’”
“They’ll all be fired by me. I fired one guy the other day. I have three to four people I’ll fire tomorrow. I’ll get to the person who leaked that to you. Reince Priebus—if you want to leak something—he’ll be asked to resign very shortly.”
“What I’m going to do is, I will eliminate everyone in the comms team and we’ll start over…I ask these guys not to leak anything and they can’t help themselves…You’re an American citizen, this is a major catastrophe for the American country. So I’m asking you as an American patriot to give me a sense of who leaked it.”
According to the NY Times, new Chief of Staff John Kelly, played a critical role in persuading Trump to dump Scaramucci.
