One of the most hated and despised individuals on the planet is former KKK leader David Duke, and although Duke has been a major supporter of President Trump up until now, his world came crashing down on him early this afternoon.
After calls from those on both the right and the left for President Trump to condemn white supremacists and the KKK, following this weekend’s tragic terrorist attack in Charlottesville, Virginia, the President finally caved in. At approximately 12:45 PM this afternoon, President Trump got in front of the nation and finally did what the majority of Americans have been asking of him, specifically condemn white supremacy.
“Racism is evil, and those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, Neo-Nazis, white supremacists and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans,” Trump said in his speech.
Immediately following Trump’s assertion, David Duke began to lash out, seemingly having a meltdown before our very eyes. First he tweeted a criticism of the President as well as the ‘FAKE media’, writing:
“It’s amazing to see how the media is able to bully the President of the United States into going along with their FAKE NEWS narrative.”
Next he turned to the live streaming video app, Periscope, for a racist rant, which included the following message directly to President Trump:
“President Trump, please, for God’s sake, don’t feel like you need to say these things. It’s not going to do you any good.”
Duke, who has relied heavily on Trump’s quiet approval to further the cause of his white nationalist agenda, took a hit today, but unless the President continues to condemn such actions and takes a stand immediately, following such attacks, Duke and his agenda will unfortunately continue to gain steam.
