Yesterday, we reported that Facebook has agreed to provide Congress with details on over 3,000 U.S. political ads which were bought by Russian entities. This comes in addition to already agreeing to furnish Special Counsel Robert Mueller with the same information.
Apparently Russia was using America’s most popular social media platform to purchase advertisements directed at individuals who fell under certain criteria in the United States. They were then allegedly pushing bogus news stories and other information to these users in hopes of possibly influencing the 2016 election.
This morning, President Trump took to his favorite social media platform, Twitter, in an attempt to debunk this latest news.
“The Russia hoax continues, now it’s ads on Facebook,” Trump wrote. “What about the totally biased and dishonest Media coverage in favor of Crooked Hillary?”
Does it ever end? Will Trump ever stop blaming Hillary Clinton for anything? His accusations that the media was dishonest in their coverage of Hillary Clinton seems to just be another means for Trump to redirect his supporters from what’s “really going on”. Many people suspect that the turning over of these 3,000 emails, will ultimately go further in proving that Russia aimed to directly influence the 2016 election vote in favor of candidate Trump. Other than that, it’s doubtful that the Facebook records will be able to connect Trump or his campaign to any form of collusion, but it may provide leads for investigators to follow, in hopes of eventually doing so.
