If you haven’t heard already this morning, late last night in Las Vegas, Nevada, at a festival taking place outside of Mandalay Bay, a man began firing shots from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel at the crowds below. As of now, the death toll stands at 50, with over 200 others suffering injuries.
It all started as country singer Jason Aldean was performing live at the Harvest Festival, just off of Route 91 in Las Vegas. Gunfire began from what sounded like an automatic firearm of some sort. At first, many people thought that the sound was of fireworks which were going off in the area, but they soon realized that people were getting shot.
This has suddenly become the worst mass shooting in the history of the United States by surpassing the death toll of the Orlando night club shooting, which saw 49 individuals lose their lives. The suspect was shot and killed by police, and they don’t believe there were any other shooters involved. The suspect is a 64-year-old man from Mequite, Nevada, named Stephen Paddock.
With all of the fear that President Trump has put into our minds about the dangers of terrorists coming here from Muslim countries or even Mexico, this event goes to show us that America does have a “terrorism problem”, but that problem is not a “Muslim problem”. As you can see in the photo below, Stephen Paddock is a white male.
Here are two videos of the horrific event as it unfolded (warning, the video may be disturbing to some audiences).
