Could This New Version of Alphabet Inc’s Google (GOOG) Glass Mean Big Things for the Company in 2016?

With 2015 winding down, we are looking to 2016 to bring new innovations from companies who have been there over the years, as well as new startups who pop up out of the blue. For Alphabet Inc.’s Google (NASDAQ:GOOG), 2016 will bring with it many challenges, new endeavors, and upgrades to existing products. Perhaps one such upgrade will be able to bring the company what it wasn’t previously able to accomplish — Google Glass Enterprise anyone?

In an FCC filing published today, we get to see a preview of what could be a new version of Google glass, perhaps one which the company will hope brings better sales than the original next year. This version is targeted toward the workplace, and it looks very similar to the existing versions, but this one can actually fold up like a normal pair of eyeglasses.

Another one of the changes seen in Alphabet Inc.’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) photos is a longer glass prism, which more than likely means a larger picture. Other minor changes include a modified charging port. Whether or not this device makes it to market or not, is yet to be seen, but it should make for an interesting 2016.

The stock increased 1.89% or $14.11 during the last trading session, hitting $762.51. About 1.18M shares traded hands. GOOG has risen 38.56% since May 22, 2015 and is uptrending. It has outperformed the S&P500 by 40.83%.

From a total of 28 analysts covering Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) stock, 24 rate it a “Buy”, 0 a “Sell”, and 4 a “Hold”. This means that 86% of the ratings are positive. The highest target price is $900 while the lowest target price is $700. The mean of all analyst targets is $825 which is 8.20% above today’s ($762.51) stock price. Google Inc. was the topic of 37 analyst reports since July 21, 2015 according to the firm StockzIntelligence Inc. Deutsche Bank maintained shares on October 23 with a “Buy” rating. Pivotal Research maintained shares with a”Hold” rating and a $740 target share price in their report from an October 23. Piper Jaffray maintained GOOG stock in a recent report from October 23 with a “Overweight” rating. Pacific Crest maintained the rating on October 23. Pacific Crest has a “Overweight” rating and a $820 price target on shares. Finally, Credit Suisse maintained the stock with a “Outperform” rating in a report they issued on an October 23.

The institutional sentiment decreased to 0.67 in Q2 2015. It’s down 0.53, from 1.2 in 2015Q2. The ratio dived, as 445 funds sold all their Alphabet Inc shares they owned while 412 reduced their positions. 109 funds bought stakes while 464 increased their total positions. Institutions now own 203.36 million shares which is 12.54% less than the previous share count of 232.53 million in 2015Q2.
