While Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) Watch may not make up a sizable portion of the company’s revenue just yet, new data coming to us from Jupitor Research today has uncovered just how well the smartwatch is doing in comparison to the similar devices on the market.
The report indicates that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) currently has garnered a 52% market share within the smartwatch space in 2015, even though the Apple Watch has only be available for approximately nine months. And while consumers are slow in adopting the watch, the market is bound to grow.
“While smartwatches’ most common claim to a use case is to improve convenience and ‘free’ users from their smartphone, several users and reviewers note that this simply shifts the burden of notification to another location, rather than lessening the load,” explains the Juniper white paper.
Whle Apple seems to be dominating the space, surprisingly Android Wear devices have only made up approximately 10% of all shipments in 2015.
