Today comes reports that the much talked about but never confirmed Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) ‘iCar’ project may have hit a major snag. While Apple never admitted that they have been working on some sort of electric car, many rumors, reports, patents, and hirings pointed heavily in that direction. Now, however, things are a bit up in the air after it has been reported that Steve Zadesky, the man who has been said to be leading the car project, is leaving the company due to “personal reasons”.
Zadesky was seen as a brilliant mind within the automobile and mobile device space, having worked previously for Ford, and having played a major role in the development of recent iPods and iPhones.
While this is certainly a blow to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) in their endeavors to put a vehicle on the road, it is doubtful that this will cause the company to scrap their plans. It may delay things a bit though. Origianlly rumors and reports pointed toward a 2019-2020 goal to have an Apple car on the roads, but this could set things back even longer.
