When you are the king of the jungle, or in this case peple’s pockets, you often have others coming at you left and right. This is just what seems to be happening to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) as yet another lawsuit has been filed against the company, this time by a small company called Immersion.
Immersion alleges that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) infringed on multiple patents of theirs related to the company’s new Force Touch and 3D Touch technologies found in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus devices.
“While we are pleased to see others in the industry recognize the value of haptics and adopt it in their products, it is important for us to protect our business against infringement of our intellectual property in order to preserve the ecosystem we have built and the investments that we have made in continuing to advance haptic experiences,” explained Immersion’s CEO Victor Viegas.
Immersion claims that the patents they own, titled: “Haptic feedback system with stored effects,” “Method and Apparatus for Providing Tactile Sensations” and “Interactivity Model for Shared Feedback on Mobile Devices.” are being infringed upon, and will likely seek out compensation. Whether a court will find Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) guilty of such infringement is yet to be seen.
