Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN) Has Acquired Emvantage – An Indian Payment Processor

As Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) looks to expand its presence in the country of India, today they’ve announced the acquisition of a Indian-based payment processor called Emvantage Payments PVT Ltd. The terms of the deal and price were not disclosed.

According to the Emvantage website, the company provides a PCI-DSS V3.1 certified payment platform, which they claim is one of the best in industry standards in data security, transaction processing, and fraud prevention.

This acquisition will likely help Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) make further inroads into the country, while also ensuring that they have top-of-the-line security and fraud prevention built into their service. With India’s ecommerce market expected to be worth a staggering $220 billion by 2025, Amazon seems to have the right motives for this expansion. Shares of Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) are trading up $9.80 or 1.93% in the premarket this morning.
