a3We all knew it was coming, virtual reality sexy time.  That’s just what one group of Japanese developers are trying to bring to market.  While we have already seen adult content brought into the virtual reality space, a truly immersive experience would of course have to include one of the other five senses, touch.

That’s just what this new body suit, called the Illusion VR, does.  By combining the visual stimulation provided by the Oculus Rift VR headset, along with the physical stimulation by way of this unique suit, the Illusion VR aims to please those men (or perhaps women) who may not have what it takes to land that perfect beach beauty, or don’t want to risk their health or freedom by paying for sex. The sex system is designed to work with a game called ‘Sexy Beach,’ but in the future could be used for intimate cyber meet-ups with those you may or may not know personally.  There are multiple facets to the Illusion VR, which when combined, present the user with a fairly accurate portrayal of a sexual encounter.  First is the body suit itself, which can send impulses all over the wearer’s body to make it feel like another human being is touching them.

Then comes the Tenga.  For those not familiar with the device, it is worn on the male’s genitals to provide stimulation in a variety of ways.  Finally there is the appendage which sits near the user’s sternum and represents female breasts.  The user is able to manipulate and grope the slightly life-like breasts as they feel impulses throughout the rest of their body.

While the Illusion VR may not be quite like the real thing, it is an example which shows that additional stimuli can be added to the visual stimulation of VR to make it even more realistic.  Whether this device will take business from the prostitution industry is yet to be seen, but there is no doubt that when this technology improves, sex workers everywhere should be alarmed. The device costs approximately $400, and it is already sold out for the time being. Let’s hear your thoughts on this unique device in the Illusion VR forum on VRTalk.com.  Check out the video below for a look at how some of the Illusion VR works:
