Khloe Kardashian’s relationship with James Harden is on hold as she turns her focus to dealing with Lamar Odom’s medical crisis. Meanwhile, Khloe and Harden reportedly began dating each other a few months ago.
On Oct. 13, Odom was found unconscious after ingesting a combination of alcohol and drugs at the Love Ranch South, a legal brothel in Pahrump, NV.
Given only a 50/50 chance of survival, the former LA Laker regained consciousness 72 hours later and has been recovering. Since then, the distraught Khloe has hardly left his bedside, and when he was discharged on Monday she flew with him to Los Angeles, where he will receive more specialized treatment. She and Kris Jenner arranged for the transfer in part, a source said, “so they can all be closer to him.”
“Khloe is committed to staying with [Lamar],” an insider told US Weekly. “It’s a slow process, but Khloe is there every step of the way…It’s all been so draining and emotional.”
“She hasn’t showered. She’s exhausted.”
The reality TV star plans to be by Odom’s side for the duration of his rehabilitation, which is expected to take many months.
“It’s all baby steps, very slow. Everything is going very slow,” the source added. “He’s talking more. He’s very slowly improving. It’s going to be a struggle.”
Sources say he has many medical issues still to be resolved. He’s expected to recover, but doctors have told his family there will be some permanent damage.
It has been reported that Odom, 35, was upset about Khloe’s relationship with Harden, a Houston Rockets shooting guard. In April, she threw him a yacht party for his 26th birthday, with Kanye West, all of the Kardashian/Jenner girls and a roster of top NBA players in attendance.
“Lamar has been hating that Khloe is with James,” an insider said to US Weekly. “Lamar wants her back. That’s what stopped the communication on her end.”
Tuesday morning, Khloe published the following message on her web site:
“The past week has been incredibly difficult. I am so thankful to family, friends and fans, who have sent nothing but prayers and well wishes to Lamar. I also want to take a moment to thank everyone at Sunrise Hospital, including the amazing doctors and nurses for their kindness and diligent work. Under their amazing care, incredible strides have been made. You can never be prepared for an experience like this, but without the outpouring of love and endless prayers that Lamar has received and the strength I was given from my loved ones, it would have been difficult to endure. Thank you for your continued support. God is great!!! XOXO, Khloé,”
