When Elvis passed away in 1977, there were immediately claims that he was not dead, and even today, nearly 40 years after his death, there are still people who have allegedly seen him. The same is true for 90’s Hip Hop legend Tupac Shakur, who also faced an untimely death in 1996.
Shakur, who was murdered in a drive-by shooting, following a Mike Tyson, Bruce Seldon fight, has since gone on to become one of the the best-selling music artists in history. He has also been ranked by Rolling Stone magazine as the 86th Greatest Artist of All Time, and as of 2007 sold over 75 million records worldwide.
While the ‘Tupac is still alive’ crowd has seemingly quieted a bit over the last several years, a new claim has brought some doubt over his death back to life. A former police officer, named David Myers, who is now in the hospital in critical condition, has made some rather interesting claims.
“The world needs to know what I did,” Myers stated from his hospital bed. “I’m ashamed that I let a price be put on my word and I cannot die without letting the world know.”
This comment was made, referring to his role in helping to cover up the alleged fake murder of Shakur. Myers claims that he was paid a total of $1.5 million in order to help fake the rapper’s death. He also claims that over 30 other individuals, ranging from medics, to police, to general witnesses, were paid off in a an attempt by the rapper to disappear. Myers said that a sum of $50,000 was provided by Shakur’s people to gain access to a body double which could be taken to the mosque.
The retired officer also believes that Suge Knight, the man who accompanied Shakur to the Tyson fight that night, played a major role in making all of this happen. Knight, who is currently in jail waiting for his trial to begin for murder, has not responded to these allegations as of yet.
While these claims seem to be a bit unbelievable, one does have to ask why a man who is near death would be tarnishing his own name like this had it all been fabricated. Unless others come forward to back Myer’s story, it is likely that we will never know for sure if what Myers is saying is fact or fiction.
