There are some things you don’t expect a President to do, and then there are things that you do expect President Trump to do. Things like calling the former FBI Director, whom he fired, ‘cowardly’.
At just before 8:30 AM EST President Trump thought it would be a good time to attacked the former FBI director some more.
“I believe the James Comey leaks will be far more prevalent than anyone ever thought possible. Totally illegal? Very ‘cowardly!'”
Yes, that’s right, Trump is now claiming that not only will additional leaks be uncovered, coming from the fired FBI Director, but suggested that such leaks may be illegal and were done by a man he now considers to be a ‘coward’.
The initial leaks which sparked Trump’s outrage were in the form of Comey’s memos about his multiple conversations with the President. While the Trump administration is pushing the narrative that such leaks were illegal, the facts are that Comey simply provided the information, which was not classified, to a friend of his. The friend then released the information to the media. It is important to note that Comey was no longer working for the government and was a private citizen at the time that this information was leaked.
There are no laws against a private citizen discussing conversations he had with the President of the United States about unclassified information, and if Trump has further details on additional leaks that Comey may have sparked, it is up to him to show the intelligence community the evidence. With that said, the American people are still waiting to see Trump’s alleged tapes of his conversations with Comey.
