Report: Trump Furious Over Twitter Trend: #25thAmendmentNow

Throughout the last several months, the 25th Amendment has been brought up in passing from time to time when discussing President Trump’s mental stability. For those unaware, the 25th Amendment to the Constitution has to deal with the succession to the Presidency should a President die or be deemed unable to do the job in his/her current state. Section 4 of this Amendment is particularly interesting in that it gives the Vice President along with a “majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress” the ability to declare that the President is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office”.  All that they have to do is submit a written declaration to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and then the Vice President can take up the position of President.

Talk among political pundits, particularly those on the left, have brought up this Amendment as a possible way to remove President Trump from office. In fact, a bill by Democrats has already laid the groundwork for doing such, by arguing that President Trump is mentally incapable of running the country.

While many pundits on the left and the right question such a bill, tweets coming from the President over the last few days have certainly bolstered the writer of the bill’s position. This weekend President Trump began attacking ‘Fake news” and calling CNN ‘FNN” for ‘Fraud News Network”. Yesterday he went as far has posting an old video of himself beating up Vince McMahon during Wrestlemania 23. The video replaced McMahon’s head with the CNN logo though.

Immediately following Trump’s tweet of this video clip, the hash tag #25thAmendmentNow began trending on Twitter because of the enormous number of people using it within their tweets. According to Jon Cooper, the Chairman of The Democratic Coalition, a source from within the White House claims that Trump found out that this hash tag was trending and became furious over it.

“WH source: Trump was FURIOUS to learn calls to remove him from office by invoking #25thAmendment are trending on Twitter. Hit a raw nerve,” tweeted Cooper.

Perhaps the President of the United States should stop doing things which make Americans question his capacity to carried out the duties of the position, if he doesn’t want them tweeting about his mental state.  While an absolute long shot, Democrats continue pushing this bill towards a vote.
